They Like Jesus But Not the Church

They Like Jesus but not the Church

Many in today’s emerging culture don’t like the church. Some are leaving; others never were part of it. Yet they remain fascinated with Jesus. Through interviews with those who like Jesus but not the church, this video-based curriculum will help churches address these objections.  This study is based on Dan Kimball‘s book by the same name.  Although the book is a great read, it is not required reading as we will be using a DVD-based curriculum and participant’s guides.

In They Like Jesus but Not the Church you will encounter the firsthand thoughts and feelings of those who find Jesus attractive but don’t care for organized religion. Here are insights that will allow you to respond truthfully, caringly, and engagingly to such concerns as:

  • September 16, 2009: Why emerging culture is changing
  • September 23, 2009: The church is an “organized religion” with a political agenda; The church is judgmental and negative.
  • September 30, 2009: The church is male dominated and oppresses females.
  • October 7, 2009: The church is homophobic.
  • October 14, 2009: The church feels Christianity is right and all other religions are wrong.
  • October 21, 2009: no community group scheduled
  • October 28, 2009: The church is full of fundamentalists who take the Bible too literally.

Join us Wednesday’s at 7:00 PM for a 6-week study beginning Wednesday, September 16, 2009. Please contact Dallas to confirm a spot, get directions, and order the participant’s guide.
